Good Catch!

I wanted to post this photo from a session I did last night. The dad is a baseball nut and brought his glove to the photoshoot of his new baby girl. He was the sweetest thing! He wanted to choose the baby announcement and it had to be pink and very girly. I have a feeling that little angel will be very loved!
I enjoy shoots where the whole family comes to be a part of the experience. There was alot of love in the studio last night as we had the little angel, mom, dad, aunt and grandma! The family is funny and always a pleasure working with them.
I am going to take a nap. I still haven't recovered from my trip to Georgia for the South Eastern Professional Photograhers Association. I plan on writing more about that later!
In the meantime, enjoy the photo of this loving dad and his precious two week old baby girl!

Just Random

Hey everyone!
My birthday is Wednesday so I have just been sitting here musing on where in the world has the time gone? (Okay, I am avoiding studying for the CPP..I admit it!) I began this business a little over a year ago. I started out setting up in my mom's embroidery business in Hermitage. I would set up my backgrounds there and that is where people would come to have their photos made. They threw my out before too long (lol) and I built the studio in my home. As all of you know, I have quickly outgrown it but it is just going to have to work for a while. (Of course if I would just quit buying more props!!) One of my very first customers came to me when her baby was just a couple of weeks old and now she is eighteen months! I am including here a photo of a four month old baby. I did her mom's maternity photos and it just seems like I did them yesterday! If time keeps going this quickly I will be walking with a cane any day now.
Watching all of the babies come through the studio makes time seem to fly even more. They come in one week and they are newborns. I turn around and I am completing their baby panels. You babys have got to slow down!!!! Stop growing up so quickly!
Another thing that has emphasized the passing of time has been my current addiction to Facebook. I have re-connected with so many friends that I have not seen in *** years!! (you didn't think I was going to tell you, did you?) I found my old roommate from college, several high school friends and even childhood playmates. We have been getting together for dinners and what nots and it is amazing how we just fall right back into the old dynamics like no time has passed at all. (Of course to fully believe that we would all have to wear blinders as we don't quite look the same). Once we get past the catching up it is as if we have never fallen out of each other's lives and I am left wondering why did we allow that to happen in the first place? I mean these are some great people! I love these people! Why did I let so many years go by without even a word? I can't tell you that but I can tell you that I am going to try hard to maintain the connections. The people who know your history and like you anyway are the best friends to have!
Well enough of my ramblings! Go out and get on facebook!

Brothers!

I love photographing brothers. Maybe it is because I have four boys, had two brothers or because I have just always been fascinated by the whole boy dynamics that I find myself being drawn to them. Photoshoots with brothers are always spontaneous and fun. I love when they break into a wrestling match and these are usually my favorite shots from the shoot. Most of all I am fascinated by the progression of a brothers shoot. You just never know for sure how it will go but it is inevitable that as soon as they get comfortable enough chaos comes forth and the shoot gets interesting. The moms always start freaking out and apologizing as her boys are now in a tangle on my floor. I keep telling her that it is fine. I guess poor mom has no idea that I really mean it! I am telling you that it just cracks me up. The boys start wrestling and here goes mom into the fray trying to break it up and she has one by the leg and the other by the arm, glancing at me over her shoulder in embarrassment and apologizing profusely. LOL...but I LOVE IT!! Here is a panel from a recent shot I did of two brothers. By the way they are now actually three brothers. The other was a newborn and was not in this series but he is a cutie and I guess I had better post a photo of him too so he will not feel left out. Now tell me these three are not adorable?

Other news!
I just got two new baby announcements in the studio! The girl's is called Peyton and the boy's is called Joey. I am including photos of them here. They are precious. They are a 5x5 square format and do come with envelopes.

The Peyton card actually features a little baby I recently photographed named Peyton. She was such a beautiful little girl and I am including one of my favorite photos from her session here too. These are her two week photos.

And the Winner is.....

ME!! lol...
I just wanted to update you on a few things....
I am happy to announce that one of my customers has won first place in photogenic at a recent competition. Congratulations Emily!!
Also, another of my customers, Kamillia has just won photogenic and best portfolio overall in the whole beauty pageant! This is her fourth photogenic win so congratulations to her too!
I also am proud that I won second place last night at the Music City Professional Photographer's meeting. I just joined last week and this was the first meeting that I have been to and I was very excited to be recognized by my peers in the professional industry. The bridal photo that you see here is the photo that won.

I wanted to thank all of you who participated in the model search. Nationwide we raised $164,775 for the NILMDTS organization. For more information on NILMDTS, please visit www.NILMDTS.org. I am proud to be a part of them.

I am studying hard for my certification test. I hope to take it around August. Last time 97 people took it and only around 27 passed so I am very nervous! I will keep you updated on that!

The studio will be closed April 23-28th. I am heading to Athens, GA for the South Easter Professional Photographer's Association meeting. I look forward to seeing everyone and going to the seminars. I hope to learn much more and come home with a head full of knowledge.

Well, I guess that is enough for now! I am including some bridal shots that I took this past weekend. I hope you enjoy them!
