Can You Believe it is DECEMBER??

Where in the world does the time go? It seems as though every time I turn around it is another month blowing by. Seriously, I still have people picking up Halloween photos and it is already Christmas!
I hope all of you are enjoying the season. Please try and take the time to cruise around and look at the Christmas lights, actually enjoy the shopping and sit on Santa's lap!
Speaking of Santa, he will be stopping by the studio on December 5th for portraits. Packages start at $99 and the larger packages include Christmas Cards. You can call the studio for more information or to book your appointment. (615-335-5529)
Well, I had better get back to designing Christmas Cards. I am including a couple of my recent favorite photos.
Stop by the studio and see me!

When photographers get on the other side of the camera

Hey Everyone!
Sorry it has been a while since I have written. There has been so much going on that as usual my head is spinning.
Last week I got together with two of my photographer friends, Janice and Heather, because Heather and I needed a headshot for an article about NILMDTS. (www.NILMDTS.org). Now keep in mind we are all professional photographers but obviously we have no idea how to be on the other side of the cameara. We were like three lost puppies. We kept standing there with a dumb look on our faces asking each other how to pose. Now I pose people at the studio all day long but for some reason I had NO idea how to go about posing myself. It was just so funny how totally helpless we all became. Now I know why I SHOOT the photos!
I am also including a photo from a couple of shoots that I have done recently. I know that I am WAY behind on the postings but bear with me! I am looking to hire someone and that should free up my time somewhat!
One photo is from a fairy shoot that I did with Ms. C. and another is from Baby T.'s six month shoot. I may throw in a couple more when I start uploading them.

Don't forget the Halloween Free Shoot that I am doing on Saturday, October 31st. I will be opening the studio from 10-7 for everyone to come by, grab a treat and have a free 4x6 photo taken. The photos will be available for pick up the next weekend. YES! The shoot is free and the 4x6 photo is free so please stop by and see me!

October is the month I will be teaming up with the Smile Train (www.SmileTrain.org) charity. The Smile Train raises money to help children born with cleft palates get the surgeries they need in order to lead happy productive lives. One of my customers, Andelyn, was born with a cleft palate and she has been lucky enough to have received several surgeries. It is such a worthy cause and I am going to donate $25 of every session booked in the month of October to the Smile Train. If you book during Octoberfest I will donate 100% of that session fee to the charity. I hope all of you will join me in supporting this wonderful cause.

Well, that is it for now! Thanks to all of you for listening to me ramble!

TPPA

I attended the Tennessee Professional Photographer's Annual Convention this month and it was awesome. I love getting together with my fellow photographers, attending the seminars and of course spending money at the trade show...lol

I must admit I was EXTREMELY proud to win the First Place Award for Bridal Portraits with this photo entitled "Annie". I was very honored to be recognized among my all of the professional photographers in the state of Tennessee.

I also won a monetary scholarship! And you know I liked that!

Well better go! Still doing my booth at the fair!

Hi Everyone!
I am so sorry about the delay in posting on my blog. I have been so busy with getting the studio open and doing the booth at the fair. Everyone needs to come and see me at the fair! My booth is in the tent by the large pavilion where they hold the pageants. Drop on by and entertain me!
A huge thank you to all of the well wishes and support everyone has shown me regarding my new studio. You are all the best! I love my job!!
I am posting a few photos from a shoot that I did last week. (I apologize to everyone waiting for me to post photos. I am hopelessly behind and trying to catch up on everything!} I originally met this little cutie when she came for my Easter Shoot with live bunnies! I just fell in love with her adorable bald head! And just let me tell you, she is crazy about her Grandma!
Well, I have got to get moving! Rolling, rolling, rolling...get those doggies rolling!

A Couple More

One of My Newest Shoots

Hey all!
Don't forget about my Open House this Saturday, August 1st from 4-8pm. Remember if you book a session during my Open House you will receive a $50 print credit towards that session. I am very excited about the studio. I am having the ribbon cutting on Friday! EEK! I am excited but very nervous! I have a painting donated as a door prize from Kirk Seufert who is a wonderful local artist. You can visit his website at: www.KirkSeufert.com. The great guys at Picture This have donated two $100 gift certificates!! You can visit their website at:
www.PictureThis-Gallery.com. Whoo Hoo!

On to my shoot! This girl, believe it or not, is just thirteen. I definitely think she could have a modeling career ahead of her. We went down to the railroad tracks and I found that silver box thingy. It made a perfect reflection of her. That is one of my favorite shots.

Sorry this is so short but I am exhausted! Please come and see my new studio at my Open House! I hope to see ALL of you there!

Wild Girls!

Sometimes a shoot just takes on a life of it's own and this is certainly what happened when I shot these two little firecrackers! They certainly took over the studio and I loved every minute of working with them. Well, maybe I should not say "working with them" and re-phrase that to just letting them go and trying to capture the vitality of these two sisters. Between their "Air Hugs" and the little one "falling asleep" they were such fun! As most of you know I had the four boys and I had two brothers so I love getting a chance to not only be around some little girls but also enjoy watching the interaction of sisters. It certainly makes me wish I had a sister or two.
The studio is coming along nicely. I hired my sons to help with yard work this past week and so we planted flowers and cleaned up the yard. I had some lights replaced today and I am beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel. I have a couple of pieces of furniture to move over there and then I will just have to tie up a few loose ends. I certainly hope you will all join me for the open house on August 1st from 4-8. Everyone that books a session at the open house will receive a $50 print credit toward the shoot!
Well, It is getting late and I am putting off designing my new business cards so I guess I had better get back to the designing.

Me Again!

Hey guys!
I just wanted to post a couple of photos from the shoot I just finished editing. This little one is just such a cutie!
I also wanted to apologize for the duplicate photo I posted last time. I had forgotten that I had already posted the one headshot.

Well, today we spent all afternoon at the studio planting flowers and trying to clean up the yard. Tomorrow will be spent trying to organize my paperwork and getting more stuff moved in over there. It is slowly coming around! Maybe I am starting to see a light at the end of the tunnel! I need to get a move on because the open house is August 1st and I have my first photo shoot at the new studio on August 2nd. Whew....no time to breathe...but I am not complaining!

It is now almost midnight and I can hear the kids upstairs running through the house like wild people. My niece has been in town for the last two months and they have kept me up every night. I guess I had better get up there and yell some more..lol...

Night!

New Beginnings and Sad Endings

I know that I have not written in a while and I am sorry. I have been trying to do better but sometimes life just throws you into a whirlwind and it is all you can do to hang on for the ride.
The past few weeks have been full of great things and sadness. As you all know I am opening my new studio soon. The Grand Opening is set for August 1st from 4-8pm. The location is 706 West Main Street in Lebanon right at the intersection of West Main and Castle Heights. I hope you will all be able to make it out to see me! I am very excited and have been overwhelmed with trying to get furnishings, measuring for curtains, deciding on photos to hang etc. Things are good there!

This has also been a time of sadness. This past Sunday I was called out to do a NILMDTS shoot at Vanderbilt Hospital. While I was there the nurses called me over and said they had another baby pass away and asked if I could also give that family the gift photographing their baby. Of course I agreed so I did back to back NILMDTS shoots. It was very sad. Those sweet little angels were so tiny, perfect and precious. I want to say a special "Thank You!" to my friend and fellow photographer, Heather who helped me out by doing the editing for me.

Also this past week a dear friend passed away and I am still reeling from the blow. It just seems so unreal still. The question of "Why" just keeps bouncing around in my head and while I know there are no answers for me I just can't stop asking.

More good news....today I went to see a friend's baby at the hospital. Baby Aspen is just beautiful and perfect beyond belief. While I was there I ran into one of my customers and she had her baby yesterday too. He was sound asleep and so adorably cute when I peeked in on him. Congratulations to these families and also to Kinsey who had her son on Monday. It looks like I will be very busy in a couple of weeks taking some newborn photos....at my NEW STUDIO!! Whoo Hoo!!

I guess for everything that is taken away there is something born into place. On Sunday I photographed two babies who returned to heaven and today I was blessed to see two babies who had just arrived from there. The circle of life continues.

I am including a couple of photos from some shoots I have done in the past week or so. I am way behind on posting these and I have alot more shoots I need to post but I will hopefully get to that soon.

I hope to see you all on August 1st. Mark your calendars!

Check out my NEW STUDIO!!

Hey everyone!
I just leased this wonderful house for my photography studio! I am so excited and happy. I will be having an open house soon and you will all be invited. In the meantime I will be hard at work getting it ready to open, doing photo shoots and generally going crazy! I plan to be shooting in the new studio by the first of August. I will continue doing all of my outdoor shoots here at my home.
I have been in love with this house for so long. Every time I would drive by it I would dream of putting a studio there. Being on the corner of West Main and Castle Heights Blvd, it was a wonderful location. I would occasionally call about it but the rent was just too high. One good thing about this awful economy is that the rent has fallen. When I called last week and saw how much it was I decided to just make an appointment and go in and look at it, hoping that it would be all chopped up and there would be no area in which to shoot. But NO! It was perfect and I was smitten. I signed the lease yesterday and have been working on it every since.
I hope all of you will help me make this a huge success! Make that appointment and tell your friends about me.

"Bless Your Heart, Miss Amy"

Here are the latest photos of my sweetie Miss K. Not only is the adorable she is just so sweet! She would tell me, "Bless your heart, Miss Amy". Needless to say I love this child! Do you see why I have the best job EVER? She arrived without her morning nap but you would never have guessed it! As always she was ready for her photo session. I have been photographing her since she was three months old so it is amazing to see how much she has grown. Bless your heart, Miss K!

My Sweet Little Miss A.

I know I say it all of the time but I do truly have the best job in the world! "Why?", you may ask?? Well I will tell you...it is because of little darlings like Miss A. Now I have been photographing her since she was a newborn and so I have watched her grow. She is now 18 months and just look at her! Do you blame me? I love her! I keep trying to convince her mom to give her to me but so far I have had no luck...lol...
Eighteen month olds have a mind of their own. They are going to do whatever they want so I just have to follow them around and do whatever they want. Miss A here wanted to explore everywhere. She wanted to go up and check out the treehouse and then she wanted to wander throughout the whole yard. She wanted to check out the pond, the ducks, the bird...well everything!
I might add too...speaking of 18...that 18 YEAR olds also have a mind of their own. My sweet baby boy turns eighteen today. Happy Birthday Alex!

Headshots

Hi All!
I hope everyone is doing great. We had a major storm move through our town today. I love storms but this one scared me enough that I came into the house. Normally I love to sit outside and watch them blow in but the trees were swaying like crazy and all the kids were with me so we moved to the indoors. You may be wondering what that has to do with photography and the answer is it doesn't! lol
Some of you may be aware that I also do headshots. I am posting a few I did this past week. If any of you are interested, please give me a call!
My customers have won several "Photogenic", "Model Face", "Portfolio", etc. awards with my work.
Talk to you soon!

Baby R.

Sometimes a baby will come into the studio and I know they are going to make my job easy. Baby R. was exactly this way. He came in for his three month old baby panel photo and the minute I spoke to him he was grinning ear to ear. That baby had more personality than alot of adults I know. I am including some of my favorite shots of R. here. I mean, seriously!! How can you not fall in love with him?? I hope you all enjoy them!

I hate bugs!!

Yesterday I was doing a senior shoot. I had found this great location with this huge stack of old tires and I could not wait to do a shoot there. However, when we got there we realized the tires were awesome BUT they were infested with mosquitoes. The whole time that we were trying to shoot the bugs were crawling all over us and biting us! I had on shorts (not a great idea) and I was so scared they were going to crawl up my legs..lol...we were all jumping around but I did get a few good photos. Next time I go to the tires I am wearing jeans and carrying bug spray!

The other photo that I am posting tonight is another of my sweet babes. This little angel is three months old and I guess we just wore her out because she fell sound asleep. Her mom thought this might be a bad thing but I think that sleeping angels are precious. What do you think?

I want to thank everyone who came out to see me at the Picture This Gallery Grand Opening. It was packed! I could not believe how many people came out. They threw a great party and it was a good time.

Please remember that this is a perfect time to have your family portraits made by the pond. The grass is beautiful and my yard is full of bright yellow flowers. The flowers by the white picket fence have finally bloomed too. I was beginning to give up on them.

Have a great night. I have a full week of photo shoots so I hope to be posting more soon!
